| Trash and Garbage Collection:
The Township contract with a trash hauler for the
removal of residential trash and garbage in the community. Collections
are made every Wednesday morning. Refuse shall be placed in durable
containers to prevent the attraction of rodents and insects. Containers
shall be placed near the curb or street. Containers shall weigh no more
than fifty (50) pounds each. No building materials, car parts or "green
waste" shall be placed for collection. Any concerns about refuse
collection should be directed to the Town Hall Office. Bulky Rubbish
collection is provided in June by an outside contractor for large items
such as furniture and most appliances. At this time the following are
NOT collected: tires, batteries, paint and appliances using freon, such
as freezers, refrigerators, and air conditioners.
Recycling:
The Township has a voluntary curbside-recycling
program, which accepts newspaper and junk mail; glass bottles and jars;
plastic soda bottles; and other plastic mixed loosely in the recycling
container, which should be placed at the curb for collection each
Wednesday morning. Additional or replacement containers are available
at the Town Hall.
Leaves:
Leaves will be collected, when placed in the
gutter along the curb, on the dates announced by the Township. Burning
or leaves in the Township is prohibited.
Building Permits:
Building permits are required by the Township
for, but not limited to, the following: new construction, additions and
structural alterations, inground and aboveground pools and storage
sheds, regardless of size and locations. Apply for permits from the
Zoning Officer, Lebanon County Planning Department, 400 S.8th Street,
Lebanon, telephone 717.274.2801. Plumbing permits are also required.
They may be obtained from the Plumbing Inspector by telephoning
717.867.2728.
Subdivision & Land Development:
The Township has an ordinance regulating the
subdivision of land, adjustment of lot lines and development of lots
for residential or non-residential uses. Plans are subject to review by
Lebanon County Planning Department and Annville Township Planning
Commission and approval of the Board of Commissioners.
Signs:
Types and sizes of signs are regulated by the
Township Zoning Ordinances. Location, size and duration of all signs,
including temporary, must be approved by the Zoning Officer.
Control Your Dog:
It is State Law that dog owners may not permit
their pets to roam at-large --- that is, unrestrained upon the property
of others and the public streets and sidewalks. Dogs must be on a leash
or under direct control of a person of responsible age if they are off
the owner's property. Be kind to your pet AND to your neighbors---don't
allow your dog to wander your neighborhood unrestrained. Also, all dogs
over the age of 6 months are required to be licensed. Dog licenses can
be obtained from the Lebanon County Treasurer's Office or their
designated agent. Call 717.274.2801 for further information.
Soliciting:
Solicitors and peddlers are required to obtain a
permit before contacting any home or citizen in the Township. If a
person comes to your door for solicitations, ask to see his or her
permit.
Trees and Shrubs:
No person owning or occupying any property within
the township shall permit limbs, shrubbery, bushes, or any other type
of plant growth to be less than fourteen (14) feet in height over any
highway, street, alley, or cartway, or to be less than eight (8) feet
in height over any sidewalk or footway or otherwise obstruct, impede or
interfere with traffic or travel or use of such highways, streets,
alleys, cartways, sidewalks, or footways. Property owners need to
control weeds on their premises. If weeds exceed 12 inches in height,
the owners are subject to penalties as outlined in the Township
Ordinance.
